New PACE v2

PACE safety and ergonomics management software is now even more powerful. New Version 2 provides extensive automation features dramatically reducing the need for time-consuming administration. NOTE TO CUSTOMERS: As Cardinus now has well over 700 customers, PACE 2 and Version 6 upgrades will take a little time to roll out to everyone. Please be patient - we will contact you soon to discuss your upgrades!

Task management
The PACE risk assessment module now includes 'task/history management' providing a detailed history and tracking of future actions. On entering the system, managers immediately see how many tasks are outstanding and can link to the 'Task manager'.

Email
Automated email can be sent from the system to any user. By using email, the whole training and risk assessment process becomes highly streamlined. For example:

  • Email to all users notifying them to complete the course. Includes a hyperlink straight to the course.

  • Email notification to any employee who fails the multiple-choice test informing them of the need to retake the training.

  • Chasing email to employees who have not completed the training.

  • Notification of re-assessment.

  • Messages based on the results of risk assessments.

Cost management
New to PACE is the facility to manage costs associated with equipment purchased. The facility can be applied to both Workstation Safety Plus and Manual Handling Plus risk assessments. All cost fields are completely customizable.

New safety statistics from the HSC

In the UK, the Health & Safety Commission has targeted the following to be achieved by 2010:

· Twenty per cent reduction in the incidence of work-related ill health
· Twenty per cent reduction in ill health to members of the public caused by work activity
· Thirty per cent reduction in the number of work days lost due to work-related ill health

A new report 'Health & safety targets - how are we doing?' comes to the unfortunate conclusion 'We're not doing too well'. The report shows:

· Little change in the overall number of combined fatal and major injuries
· A possible reduction in fatal injuries (but it's too early to tell)
· A rising trend in slips and trips resulting in serious injury

The report also points out that stress and musculoskeletal disorders account for a staggering two thirds of days taken off work - 13.4 million for stress and and 12.3 million for MSDs!

Please contact us if you are concerned about the effects of stress in your workplace.

Cardinus in Las Vegas

As can be seen from the photograph, Jon Abbott (Cardinus Director of Sales) and Annette Wood (Customer Services Manager) had a punishing schedule at the recent National Ergonomics Conference in Las Vegas!

We would like to extend our thanks to all who visited our booth and gave us such a warm welcome.

Cardinus are visiting Texas in March. Please contact us if you would like to arrange a meeting to discuss your requirements.

Managing Safely - classroom based and interactive sessions

In the UK, IOSH accredited Managing Safely is now available in both classroom and interactive formats. The interactive version culminates in a written assessment which can be taken at one of our examination centres around the country - Leeds, Birmingham, Croydon, Bristol. All venues are now fully booked except Bristol (5th March 2003) which still has limited availability. Please contact us ASAP if you would like to attend.
