1. Cardinus and RAC Risk Management announce partnership
Cardinus and RAC Risk Management are pleased to announce that the two organisations are now working together to provide a complete vehicle risk management package including in-vehicle training, consultancy and e-learning. 2. New Road Safety Act – important implications for all organisations
with fleet drivers
The new Road Safety Act makes provision for a range of road safety matters. These cover drink driving, speeding, penalties and enforcement, driver training and driver and vehicle licensing. The Act also introduces some new offences.

3. Driver training delivers up to 50% reduction
in accident rates

Research produced by RAC Risk Management consistently shows the direct benefit of driver training is up to a 50% reduction in accidents, and in turn insurance premiums.

4. Increased penalties for use of hand-held mobile phones while driving
Perhaps the most controversial element of the new Act is the change regarding the use of mobile phones. From 27 February, the penalty for using a hand-held phone when driving becomes a £60 fixed fine and three penalty points on your licence. Moreover the implications to the organisation have changed: they are now liable if they ‘cause or permit’ an employee to use a hand-held mobile phone while driving.
