Fleetsafe - the online 'driving at work' policy document
The HSE has recently clarified the requirements of employers in relation to
'managing work-related road safety' - see
Driving at Work (PDF). In simple terms,
every firm requiring an employee to use a vehicle in the course of employment has the
same duty under the Health and Safety at Work Act to provide a written safety policy and
provide appropriate training and guidance to ensure the vehicle is a safe ‘place’ to work.
‘Fleetsafe’ provides an annual licence for an online ‘Driving at work’ policy document,
which is updated continuously to reflect any changes in legislation. Each company is
able to personalise the document to reflect individual company requirements with the
ability to print multiple copies or link into a company intranet.
The Driving at Work Policy comes with a 35-page Management Guide containing helpful
notes and guidance on the policy, plus 7 appendices of sample forms, checklists and
driver/management guidelines. In all it comprises:
