Balfour Beatty
Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions (BBUS), part of the world-class engineering, construction, services
and investment group, appointed us to further improve its driver road traffic collision
(RTC) record.
In November 2007, the merger of Balfour Beatty Utilities and Balfour Beatty Power Networks was
the catalyst for the new training initiative led by BBUS Driver Risk Project Manager, Dave Washbourne.
The drivers involved travel the country from site to site, so the company’s fleet of around 3,200
company LGVs, cars and vans are often travelling more than 30,000 miles a year.
Those identified as low risk require no further action, while those identified as high risk from the
number of incidents and their history undergo one-to-one on the road driver awareness training with
our instructors. The success achieved to date has resulted in winning consecutive awards for Road Safety
from Brake for 2007 and 2008.
BBUS Training Manager, Mark Kelly, commented: "As a company, we’re always looking for proactive ways
to reduce the number of RTC’s."
