Fuel prices now the biggest concern for fleet managers

Fuel prices and environmental issues have joined duty of care in a poll of top fleet manager worries. According to the latest results from GE Commercial Finance, Fleet Services 'Company Car Trends', the company's quarterly survey into developments in the fleet sector, the majority of respondents believe fuel prices will have the greatest influence on fleet policy during the next 12 months, compared to second placed duty of care issues, and third placed environmental considerations.

Fortunately one of the many benefits of driver training is up to an 8% reduction in fuel consumption, so organisations can do something practical to help the environment by using less fuel. Of course saving fuel also means saving cost. For a sales person driving a Mondeo, or equivalent, this would typically be a saving of around £400 a year, but it could be around a £4,500 a year saving to the business for an eight-ton lorry! This is because properly trained drivers learn how to drive carefully without, for example, excessive speeding or continual braking. In-vehicle driver training

In-vehicle driver training is universally recognised as the single most effective way to reduce driver related incidents. The RAC's national network of qualified, expert trainers provides half or full day training across the UK.
