CDM 2007 Awareness Training Course

New health and safety regulations aimed at all aspects of Construction were introduced in April 2007.

The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 served to consolidate existing legislation and shift the focus in the direction of planning and management of construction projects.

The result is that Clients, Designers, CDM Co-ordinators, Principal Contractors and Contractors are all subject to changed responsibilities.

Regardless of your role in a project, it is essential that you should understand your own responsibilities and be aware of the responsibilities of others.

Who should attend?

Anyone with an interest in Construction projects, though the course is particularly targeted at Clients, Designers and Contractors.

Preparation No preparation is required, though delegates may find it advantageous to download and print off copies of the new Regulations and the Industry Guidance Notes for the roles in which they are interested, available at:

Materials

A copy of the PowerPoint slides is made available to every delegate after the course.

The aim of the Awareness Training Course is to provide an introduction to the new and changed duties under CDM2007.

By the end of the course delegates will:

  • Have on overview of the new CDM2007 Regulations.
  • Be aware of the scope and nature of the duties attaching to each of the roles.
  • Be able to assess the need for additional training for themselves and others for whom they are responsible.

It should be emphasised that the Awareness course provides an Introduction only and is not sufficient in itself to ensure you are able to comply with the new legislation.

The course covers the following topics:

  • Introduction to CDM2007 Regulations.
  • Client duties.
  • CDM Co-ordinator duties.
  • Designer duties.
  • Principal Contractor duties.
  • Contractor duties.

The course typically requires three hours, with some variation depending on the length of the question time at the end of the course.
