Digitally store and access your building’s fire and structural safety information – historic and future

What is The Golden Thread?

Following the Grenfell Tower tragedy, Dame Judith Hackitt, in her Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety report, called for changes to the building management control process and new information management requirements, recommending a “Golden Thread of information” for buildings.

The golden thread is a digitally held set of information designed to ensure that the right people have the right information at the right time.

The Independent Review describes how this requirement will “enable future building owners to better manage their buildings safely”, which will “underpin more effective safety management”.

Dutyholders will need to keep the golden thread of information up-to-date and accurate to comply with fire and safety regulations.

Specific documents, data and information relating to fire and structural safety building information will need to be held according to specific standards.

The Government’s proposed Building Safety Bill and Fire Safety Bill contain a wide range of changes to law covering building safety, including the “Golden Thread of information”.

To support clients with the changes and forthcoming requirements we have constructed a future-proofed platform.

INDIGO Golden Thread Solution

The process of storing and managing information, and staying compliant with requirements related to the golden thread, without a purpose-made system, will likely be complex and time-consuming for many organisations.

Cardinus’ INDIGO Golden Thread Solution supports dutyholders by providing a live, digital platform, to capture and preserve required information. This allows building owners to more easily keep information up-to-date, accurate and accessible.

Furthermore, INDIGO enables the scheduling of fire risk assessments, among other surveys, and the management of risk improvements from the same platform. This ensures that you can not only maintain your golden thread data but actively manage your compliance risks as well.
